What S 8733 does, verified October 17, 2026
The bill amends the Public Officers Law to exempt individuals from residing in the county where they will be working as a correction officer. This exception applies to individuals who reside in adjacent counties or Albany County, Delaware County, Greene County, Hamilton County, Madison County, Oneida County, Rensselaer County, Warren County, or Washington County. The bill does not require a person to be a resident of the political subdivision or municipal corporation of the state for which they will be chosen.
