S 91: Relates to requiring bills with a threshold level of co-sponsorship to be brought to the floor for a vote to be taken thereon.
The proposed legislation aims to increase transparency and accountability in the state's legislative process. Key points include: The bill requires bills with a certain level of co-sponsorship to be brought to the floor for a vote during the legislative session in which they are introduced. For Assembly bills, this threshold is seventy-six co-sponsors, while for Senate bills, it is thirty-two co-sponsors. These requirements aim to ensure that bills receive sufficient support before being considered for passage. The bill takes effect on the first of January next following its enactment.
