HB 158: Enact the Consumer Utility Billing Transparency Act
This bill requires utility companies to itemize the costs of certain bills for residential customers. The itemized costs must include: - Utility distribution costs - Generation costs - Transmission costs - Supply costs - All riders and charges separate from these costs - All taxes and governmental fees Each line item must show the amount apportioned to the customer for the billing period. The bill is titled "The Consumer Utility Billing Transparency Act" and will be known by this name in the revised code.

To enact section 4933.30 of the Revised Code to 1
enact "The Consumer Utility Billing Transparency 2
Act" requiring the itemization of all riders, 3
taxes, and other costs on certain utility bills. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 4933.30 of the Revised Code be 5
enacted to read as follows: 6
Sec. 4933.30. (A) A utility billing issued from a gas, 7
natural gas, water works, or electric light company operated for 8
profit or not for profit to a residential customer shall itemize 9
the following: 10
(1) The customer's utility distribution costs; 11
(2) The customer's generation costs; 12
(3) The customer's transmission costs; 13 (4) The customer's supply costs; 14
(5) All riders and charges that are separate from the 15
customer's utility distribution, generation, transmission, or 16

(B) Each line item shall contain the amount apportioned to 19
the customer for the billing period. 20
Section 2. Section 4933.30 of the Revised Code shall be 21
known as "The Consumer Utility Billing Transparency Act." 22
