HB 210: Regards the sale of used catalytic converters
This bill is a comprehensive theft law that outlines the conditions under which a person can be considered a thief. To be considered a thief, a person must intentionally deprive another of their property or services without consent, by deception, threat, or intimidation. The law defines the severity of the crime based on the value of the stolen property or services. Misdemeanor theft is punishable by up to six months in jail for less than $1,000 in stolen value. More serious offenses, such as grand theft, aggravated theft, and aggravated theft of one million five hundred thousand dollars or more, are punishable by felony charges, which can result in longer prison sentences. The law also repeals existing sections related to theft and clarifies the conditions under which a person can be considered a thief.
