HB 291: Create the Ohio International Trade Commission
The Ohio International Trade Commission is created to advance trade and investment between Ohio and four designated nations: Japan, Ireland, Israel, and two other nations. The commission will promote multilateral trade and investment, joint research agreements, business and academic exchanges, technology centers, and mutual economic support. The commission will consist of 15 members appointed by the governor, with 3 senators, 3 representatives, and 8 members appointed by the director of development and the adjutant general. Members of the commission will serve without compensation and will meet and hold hearings throughout the state. A chairperson will be selected from among the members, and the commission may appoint subcommittees and subcommittee chairpersons.
