HB 297: Regards funds provided by county for Memorial Day expenses
This bill allows counties to provide financial assistance to military and veterans organizations, and civic organizations, for Memorial Day expenses. The counties can provide up to $501,000 annually to garrisons or naval branches of the army and navy union, and to chartered posts of veterans' organizations recognized by Congress. Organizations must submit a statement of expenses incurred up to the time of application, and file a sworn statement accounting for the complete expenditures of the funds within 60 days after Memorial Day. Any unexpended funds must be returned to the county within the same period. Organizations that fail to file the sworn statement may not receive an appropriation the following year.
