HB 337: Require firearm sale by federal dealer to include trigger lock

Ohio · House · 136th General Assembly (2025–2026) · last verified September 25, 2026

What HB 337 does, verified September 25, 2026

The bill requires federally licensed firearms dealers to attach and provide a trigger lock, gun lock, or locking device to the purchaser of each firearm at the time of sale. The dealer must also offer other locking devices if available. Additionally, the dealer must post a required poster in a conspicuous location and make a brochure available to all purchasers. This ensures that firearms are sold with safety features to prevent unauthorized use.
