HCR 5: Convene in joint session of Senate and House
The Ohio General Assembly is authorizing a joint convention to be held in the House chambers of the Ohio Statehouse on March 12, 2025, at 12:00 o'clock p.m. The purpose of the convention is to welcome the Governor and receive his message on the state of the state. A committee of nine representatives and eight senators will be appointed to wait upon the Governor in anticipation of his address. The convention will observe the rules and customs of the House, and the Clerk of the House will transmit a copy of the resolution to the Governor and the news media of Ohio.

wait upon the Governor in anticipation of his 4
State of the State Address. 5
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO (THE SENATE CONCURRING):
WHEREAS, The members of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, by 6
adoption of this Resolution, call for a joint convention of the 7
legislature, to be held in the House Chambers of the Ohio Statehouse, 8
March 12, 2025 at 12:00 o'clock p.m.; and 9
WHEREAS, The Ohio General Assembly annually convenes a joint 10
convention of the House and Senate for the purpose of receiving a 11
message from the Governor as to the State of the State; and 12
WHEREAS, The members of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, by 13
adoption of the Resolution, call for a committee of nine on the part 14
of the House of Representatives and eight on the part of the Senate to 15
be appointed to wait upon the Governor in anticipation of his State of 16
the State Address, March 12, 2025 at 12:00 o'clock p.m.; and 17
WHEREAS, It is a tradition of courtesy for the Ohio General 18
Assembly to appoint a committee to wait upon the Governor; therefore 19
be it 20
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 136th General Assembly of 21
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, authorize a joint convention of the 22

Columbus, March 12, 2025 at 12:00 o'clock p.m., for the purpose of 24
welcoming the Governor, the Honorable Mike DeWine, and receiving his 25
message on the State of the State; and be it further 26
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 136th General Assembly of 27
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, call for a committee of nine on the 28
part of the House of Representatives and eight on the part of the 29
Senate to be appointed to wait upon the Governor; and be it further 30
RESOLVED, That the rules and customs of the House shall be 31
observed during the use of the House Chambers; and be it further 32
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 33
duly authenticated copies of this Resolution to Governor Mike DeWine 34
and to the news media of Ohio. 35
