HR 225: Honoring the Henn Mansion on its Centennial.

1WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th 1 General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to 2 the Henn Mansion on the memorable occasion of its Centennial; and3
4WHEREAS, This is an important milestone, and celebration is 4 certainly in order. Located on Lake Erie in Euclid, this brick 5 structure was constructed as the residence of Albert W. Henn, and 6 after he died in 1947, the property was transferred to the City of 7 Euclid, which used it for the Euclid Board of Education offices and 8 then to house the recreation department before letting it fall into 9 disrepair. When the city proposed demolishing the house in 1996, a 10 group of concerned citizens formed the Friends of the Henn Mansion to 11 acquire and restore it, successfully preserving this piece of local 12 history and having it listed on the National Register of Historic 13 Places in 2000, and it is now used as a rentable event venue; and14
15WHEREAS, Those who have nurtured and sustained the Henn Mansion 15 merit praise for their remarkable initiative, diligence, and resolve. 16 With a wealth of vision and vitality, they have shown how very much 17 can be accomplished by a group of conscientious, industrious people, 18 and they can be proud that their unflagging commitment to education 19 and history has made it possible for the structure to flourish; and20
21WHEREAS, The Henn Mansion has enhanced the quality of life within 21 the surrounding area, and its contributions to Euclid's cultural 22 heritage have earned it the gratitude and respect of the entire 23 community. We are certain that this noteworthy landmark will remain a 24 fine representation of the area's past for years to come; therefore be 25 it26
