To recognize the Nepali-Bhutanese refugee crisis.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
WHEREAS, Despite significant global efforts, over 7,000 2
Nepali-Bhutanese refugees continue to languish in camps in 3
Nepal; and 4
WHEREAS, The Global People Alliance (GPA) work to promote 5
peace and serve as advocates for marginalized communities 6
worldwide; and 7
WHEREAS, GPA advocates for the permanent resettlement or 8
repatriation options for refugees still residing in camps in 9
Eastern Nepal; and 10
WHEREAS, GPA advocates to enable members of the Nepali- 11
Bhutanese diaspora to return to Bhutan to reconnect with family 12
and loved ones; and 13
WHEREAS, GPA advocates for the release of any individuals 14
imprisoned arbitrarily for political reasons; and 15
WHEREAS, It is necessary to promote peace, prosperity, 16
economic development, and cultural connections for Nepali- 17
Bhutanese community members worldwide; and 18
WHEREAS, It is crucial to emphasis the importance of 19

political participation and civic engagement with the Nepali- 20
Bhutanese diaspora; now therefore be it 21
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Ohio House of 22
Representatives of the 136th General Assembly, recognize the 23
Nepali-Bhutanese refugee crisis and support advocacy efforts to 24
promote peace, prosperity, economic development, and cultural 25
connections for Nepali-Bhutanese community members worldwide; 26
and be it further 27
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House transmit duly 28
authenticated copies of this resolution to the news media of 29
Ohio. 30
