Honoring the Kent State University Tuscarawas women’s volleyball team on winning the 2024 USCAA Division 2 National Championship title.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize the Kent State 2
University Tuscarawas women’s volleyball team as the 2024 United 3
States Collegiate Athletic Association Division 2 National Champion; 4
and 5
WHEREAS, The members of the Kent State University Tuscarawas 6
women’s volleyball team are exemplary athletes, and they have shown 7
themselves to be truly exceptional competitors. Indeed, the Golden 8
Eagles won the first USCAA Division 2 National Championship crown in 9
program history when they defeated Penn State University Hazleton in 10
three sets, and the unwavering commitment of the players and coaches 11
has earned them the esteem of many. They are certainly deserving of 12
high praise; and 13
WHEREAS, Coach Cortney Goodwin has demonstrated remarkable energy, 14
enthusiasm, and dedication in guiding the Kent State University 15
Tuscarawas women’s volleyball team to victory, and her skill is 16
reflected in the squad’s outstanding accomplishments. Due largely to 17
her tireless efforts, the members have distinguished themselves on the 18
court, and she has received respect and admiration from all who know 19
her; and 20
WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future 21
leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and 22
the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has 23
become a valuable tool. By taking part in sports, the members of the 24

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 28
the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay 29
tribute to the Kent State University Tuscarawas women’s volleyball 30
team as the 2024 USCAA Division 2 National Champion and honor all 31
those who contributed to the success of this fine squad; and be it 32
further 33
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 34
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Kent State 35
University Tuscarawas women’s volleyball team. 36
