A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring Jesse Mendez as the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Champion in the 141-pound weight class.

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize Jesse Mendez on 2
securing the 2025 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I 3
Wrestling Championship in the 141-pound weight class; and 4
WHEREAS, Displaying exceptional form, ability, leadership, and 5
dedication during the 2024-25 season, Jesse Mendez has certainly 6
distinguished himself as one of the most talented wrestlers in the 7
country. After winning a national championship last year, he defeated 8
a tough opponent from the University of Nebraska this year by a score 9
of 12-9 in the 141-pound weight class to earn his second consecutive 10
national title; and 11
WHEREAS, Throughout intense training and preparation, Jesse Mendez 12
has consistently demonstrated the talent, integrity, and motivation 13
that are the hallmarks of a true champion. To his credit, he could 14
always be counted on not only to shine individually but also to 15
contribute significantly to his teammates’ collective effort; and 16
WHEREAS, A junior at The Ohio State University, Jesse Mendez is 17
truly worthy of acknowledgement for the formidable athletic gifts and 18
the competitive spirit that he has so amply revealed throughout this 19
past season. He has inspired his teammates, thrilled his fans, gained 20
the respect of his opponents, and made his coaches and family very 21
proud; therefore be it 22
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 23
the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 24
congratulate Jesse Mendez on his impressive wrestling accomplishment 25

and salute him as a fine young athlete; and be it further 26
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 27
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Jesse Mendez. 28
