SB 111: Designate Henrietta Lacks Day
The bill designates October 4th as "Henrietta Lacks Day" to recognize the significance of Henrietta Lacks, a woman whose cancer cells were taken without her knowledge or consent and led to numerous scientific breakthroughs. This day aims to raise awareness about medical ethics, informed consent, and the importance of respecting patients' autonomy. The bill is intended to honor Henrietta Lacks' legacy and promote a greater understanding of the complex issues surrounding biomedical research and its impact on society.
