SB 227: Cap cost sharing for prescription insulin drugs
This bill aims to cap the cost sharing for prescription insulin drugs. It defines "prescription insulin drug" as a prescription drug containing insulin used to treat diabetes. The bill prohibits health plans from requiring cost sharing for prescription insulin drugs exceeding thirty-five dollars per thirty-day supply. Cost sharing will be charged per prescription fill, regardless of the type or amount of insulin needed. This cap applies to new and renewed health plans issued or amended on or after the effective date of the bill.
