Ohio · Senate · 136th General Assembly (2025–2026) · last verified September 25, 2026

What SB 228 does, verified September 25, 2026

The state of Ohio is creating a new specialty license plate called "Lifetown" to support a local organization. The license plate will feature a logo and words selected by the organization, and will display county identification stickers. To register for the "Lifetown" license plate, vehicle owners must pay a regular license tax, additional fees, and a contribution to the state treasury. The state will use the contribution to support the organization's programs and activities. The license plate is open to passenger cars, noncommercial motor vehicles, and other vehicles of a class approved by the state. The state will also deposit a portion of the contribution into the state treasury to support public safety highway purposes.

Section 2. That existing section 4501.21 of the Revised Code is hereby repealed.
Section 3. Section 4501.21 of the Revised Code is presented in this act as a composite of the section as amended by both H.B. 315 and S.B. 163 of the 135th General Assembly. The General Assembly, applying the principle stated in division (B) of section 1.52 of the Revised Code that amendments are to be harmonized if reasonably capable of simultaneous operation, finds that the composite is the resulting version of the section in effect prior to the effective date of the section as presented in this act.
