Ohio · Senate · 136th General Assembly (2025–2026) · last verified February 17, 2026

What SB 349 does, verified February 17, 2026

The proposed amendment to the Ohio Revised Code aims to update the rules governing outdoor advertising devices. The new rules would allow authorized devices to be placed closer to interstate, national, and primary highway system interchanges. The minimum distance between an advertising device and an interchange or proposed interchange would be 400 feet. The rules would also consider factors such as sizing, lighting, and spacing to promote public safety and align with national policy. Existing municipal ordinances regulating advertising devices would be superseded by the new state rules. A copy of the new rules would be made available to anyone requesting it without charge.
