SB 398: Create the Adopt a Trail Program
The Adopt a Trail program will allow volunteer groups to assist in maintaining and enhancing trails on state-owned land. Volunteer groups can adopt available trails or trail segments to engage in various activities such as spring cleanup, litter collection, accessibility projects, special events, trail maintenance, and public information. To participate, groups must apply to the division of parks and watercraft and obtain approval. The program will require volunteer groups to participate for a minimum of two years and comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The division will provide guidelines and support for the program, including garbage bags, safety training, and gloves.
