SJR 6: Apply for Convention of the States re: term limits

Ohio · Senate · 136th General Assembly (2025–2026) · last verified February 13, 2026

What SJR 6 does, verified February 13, 2026

The proposed constitutional amendment aims to establish term limits for members of the US Congress. The proposed limit would restrict the number of terms a person can be elected to the House of Representatives and the Senate. The application requests Congress to call a limited convention to propose this amendment. The resolution also directs the clerk of the House of Representatives to transmit copies of the resolution to relevant officials and legislative bodies across the country, requesting their cooperation in supporting the application. This application will be considered as part of the efforts by other states to call a convention on the same subject, and it will remain a continuing application until at least two-thirds of the states have made similar applications.
