A RESOLUTION
Honoring the City of Akron on its Two Hundredth Anniversary.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly 1 of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the City of Akron on its 2 Bicentennial; and3
WHEREAS, Over the past two hundred years, the city has experienced 4 dramatic growth and change, and yet, commendably, it still radiates 5 vitality, optimism, and a charm all its own. Since its establishment 6 in 1825, Akron has adapted to meet each new challenge, and clearly, 7 the community's outstanding schools, remarkable businesses, and astute 8 civic organizations both embody and thrive upon the values of which 9 our flag is an emblem; and10
WHEREAS, Even as they have exuberantly embraced the promise of a 11 bright future, the residents of Akron have never relinquished their 12 appreciation for the worthiest virtues of the past. Indeed, they have 13 managed to nurture a fresh perspective and a positive outlook that 14 continue to endear this distinctive city to all who know it well; and15
WHEREAS, Every state depends upon such vibrant, durable 16 communities as Akron for its own survival and stability. Although 17 having known adversity and tribulation, it also has been favored with 18 its share of blessings, and in the years to come, the municipality is 19 sure to remain on its admirable course and to continue to transform 20 challenges into opportunities; therefore be it21
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the City 23 of Akron as it commemorates its Two Hundredth Anniversary and offer 24 our best wishes for its perennial good fortune; and be it further25
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 26 authenticated copy of this Resolution to the City of Akron.
