WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly 1 of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Akron Urban League as it 2 celebrates its One Hundredth Anniversary; and3
WHEREAS, This is, indeed, an important occasion, and it provides 4 an ideal time to acknowledge the exceptional work done by the Akron 5 Urban League. Since its establishment a century ago, the association 6 has engaged in an array of worthwhile activities and projects to 7 empower African Americans and underserved citizens of Summit County, 8 and it can be proud of its initiatives to deliver transformational 9 services that move individuals and families to economic self- 10 efficiency; and11
WHEREAS, All those associated with the Akron Urban League are to 12 be commended for their foresight, dedication, and selfless donations 13 of time, energy, and ability far beyond what was required or expected. 14 These fine people have earned the respect and admiration of many and 15 their charitable efforts have set an example of concerned and 16 responsible citizenship worthy of emulation; and17
WHEREAS, Founded on the highest ideals of professionalism, the 18 Akron Urban League has distinguished itself by its commitment to 19 excellence. Throughout its history, it has maintained a reputation for 20 integrity, innovation, collaboration, and devotion to service, and its 21 impressive contributions to the community readily explain why it is so 22 widely held in high esteem; therefore be it23
