SR 211: Honoring St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on its One Hundred Seventy-fifth Anniversary.
The senate is honoring St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on its 175th anniversary. The church has provided a pathway to a more meaningful life by illuminating and demonstrating the precepts on which the church was founded. The spirit of love and Christian fellowship among the parishioners extends beyond the church to touch the lives of everyone encountered by these devout disciples. The church has experienced continual growth under the capable direction of many religious leaders, and has provided moral guidance and spiritual motivation to its members. The church has enhanced the quality of life within the surrounding area and earned the gratitude and respect of the citizens it has served. The senate congratulates the church on its anniversary and pays tribute to those celebrating this joyous event. A copy of the resolution will be transmitted to the church.

A RESOLUTION
Honoring St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on its One Hundred Seventy-fifth Anniversary.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly 1 of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to St. John the 2 Evangelist Catholic Church on the hallowed occasion of its One Hundred 3 Seventy-fifth Anniversary; and4
WHEREAS, Since its inception, St. John the Evangelist Catholic 5 Church has offered its members the pathway to a more meaningful life 6 by illuminating and demonstrating the precepts on which the church was 7 founded. The spirit of love and Christian fellowship that exists among 8 the parishioners not only prevails within the church edifice itself 9 but also extends beyond those sacred walls to touch the lives of 10 everyone encountered by these devout disciples; and11
WHEREAS, Under the capable direction of many religious leaders 12 over the years, including its current pastor, the Reverend David 13 Cirata, and its parochial vicar, the Reverend Kevin McGraw, St. John 14 the Evangelist Catholic Church has experienced continual growth and 15 has provided a source of moral guidance and spiritual motivation for 16 each of its members. Indeed, the church has enhanced the quality of 17 life within the surrounding area, and, through its generous efforts, 18 it has earned the gratitude and respect of the many citizens it has so 19 capably served; and20
WHEREAS, An occasion such as this is an important milestone which 21 represents dedication, commitment, and enduring faith. For one hundred 22 seventy-five years, the members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic 23 Church have kept their faith alive in the Defiance community, and on 24 this special anniversary, they have accepted the challenge of carrying 25 their beliefs into the future; therefore be it26
