A RESOLUTION

Honoring the Archbishop Hoban High School Mock Trial team on winning the 2026 Ohio Mock Trial State Championship.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Archbishop Hoban High School Mock Trial team as the 2026 Ohio Mock Trial State Champion; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Archbishop Hoban High School Mock Trial team are a remarkable group of young academicians, combining talent and competitive spirit with exceptional knowledge to establish themselves as truly exemplary students. With commendable dedication, they performed admirably against teams from across the state, and as a result, they overcame the squad from St. Xavier High School in the final round to win first place at this year's Ohio Mock Trial State Competition, securing their second consecutive state title and qualifying for the national competition. Throughout long hours of practice and preparation, the students have displayed a degree of determination and motivation of which they can be proud; and

WHEREAS, In preparing themselves for this important contest, the members of the Archbishop Hoban High School Mock Trial team have had the opportunity to develop and express their individual abilities and to acquire knowledge and information that will be of great benefit to them throughout their lives. Having worked diligently to sharpen their skills, they confronted competition with confidence and enthusiasm and distinguished themselves as worthy representatives of their school, community, and state; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Archbishop Hoban High School Mock Trial team is a fitting tribute to the excellent leadership provided by its advisor, Jared Topp, and several legal advisors, who have given tirelessly of their time, energy, and expertise to guide the members. The squad's accomplishments are a justifiable source of pride not only for the students but also for their coaches, their families, their school, and their community. The maturity and experience the team members have gained through their participation in this exciting activity will greatly aid them in meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Archbishop Hoban High School Mock Trial team for outstanding achievement and honor the members and coaches as some of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Archbishop Hoban High School Mock Trial team.
