Honoring Edward Kessen on placing first at the 2025 Division III State Wrestling Championship.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Edward Kessen as the 2025 2
Division III State Wrestling Champion in the 138-pound weight class; 3
and 4
WHEREAS, Edward Kessen is deserving of high praise for his 5
outstanding ability and spirited drive, as well as his quickness and 6
tenacity, which have distinguished him as a superior athlete and a 7
standout member of the Delphos St. John High School wrestling team. 8
Securing the first state championship in his school’s history, he 9
amassed a 2024-2025 season record of 46-5 and practiced diligently in 10
preparation for the Division III State Wrestling Championship meet, 11
where he won first place in the 138-pound weight class. To his credit, 12
he has gained the admiration and respect of all those who have 13
witnessed him in action; and 14
WHEREAS, Few sports embody the spirit of individual accomplishment 15
more than wrestling, and athletes such as Edward Kessen exemplify the 16
qualities necessary for excellence in any sport, including discipline, 17
agility, conditioning, and focus. Indeed, throughout long hours of 18
competition, he has consistently demonstrated the talent and 19
motivation that are the hallmarks of a true champion; and 20
WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future 21
leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and 22
the rewards of individual effort, high school athletic competition has 23
become a valuable tool. Through his participation in sports, Edward 24
Kessen has learned lessons of perseverance, hard work, and fair and 25
honest competition that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to him 26

throughout his lifetime; therefore be it 27
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General 28
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Edward 29
Kessen on his outstanding performance in state competition and extend 30
best wishes for continued success; and be it further 31
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 32
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Edward Kessen. 33
