Honoring Laney Oliver on placing first at the 2025 Girls State Wrestling Championship.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to commend Laney Oliver as the 2025 State Champion 2
in girls wrestling in the 190-pound weight class; and 3
WHEREAS, A diligent and capable individual, Laney Oliver is 4
deserving of recognition for her exemplary accomplishments as a senior 5
member of the Findlay High School wrestling team, and during the 2024- 6
2025 season she amassed a perfect 30-0 record. An exceptional athlete, 7
she defeated a tough opponent from Lakewood High School with a 14-0 8
major decision to win this year’s state championship in the 190-pound 9
weight class, and her noteworthy record of personal achievement stands 10
as a hallmark for others; and 11
WHEREAS, Through her participation in wrestling, Laney Oliver has 12
learned important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and 13
good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her 14
throughout her life. Under the leadership of Coach Ben Kirian, she has 15
inspired countless people to excel in various areas of endeavor, and 16
she has set an example worthy of emulation; and 17
WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of 18
our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards 19
of individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable 20
educational tool. With sports contributing to the development of 21
countless youth, we are happy to congratulate such a fine athlete as 22
Laney Oliver; therefore be it 23
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General 24
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Laney Oliver on 25
