A R E S O L U T I O N

To support moving NASA headquarters to Cleveland, Ohio.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

WHEREAS, Ohio is the birthplace of aviation and has 2
produced some of our nation's greatest pioneers in space 3
exploration, including more astronauts than any other state; and 4
WHEREAS, Ohio continues to lead the nation in aerospace 5
research and development and is home to world-class research 6
institutions such as NASA Glenn Research Center, NASA Neil 7
Armstrong Test Facility, and the Air Force Research Laboratory; 8
and 9
WHEREAS, The lease on the current NASA headquarters in 10
Washington, D.C. will expire in 2028, making this an opportune 11
time to accomplish President Trump's wish to move federal 12
agencies out of Washington, D.C. and reduce federal spending; 13
and 14
WHEREAS, Ohio's highly skilled workforce, robust 15
transportation infrastructure, and developed manufacturing 16
sector make Ohio a strategic location to support NASA's 17
operations; and 18
WHEREAS, Ohio's lower cost of living would save taxpayer 19
dollars as compared to other prospective locations for NASA 20
headquarters; and 21

WHEREAS, Relocating NASA headquarters to Cleveland would 22
honor Ohio's contributions to aerospace and space exploration, 23
reinforce Ohio's position as an international leader in space 24
exploration and aeronautics innovation, and best position NASA 25
for sustained success; now therefore be it 26
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th 27
General Assembly of Ohio, strongly encourage President Trump, 28
Vice President Vance, and NASA Administrator Designate Isaacman 29
to relocate NASA headquarters to Cleveland, Ohio; and be it 30
further 31
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly 32
authenticated copies of this resolution to the President of the 33
United States, Vice President of the United States, NASA 34
Administrator Designate Jared Isaacman, and the news media of 35
Ohio. 36
