A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring the Upper Arlington High School ice hockey team as the 2025 OHSAA State Champion.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Upper Arlington High School 2
ice hockey team on winning the 2025 Ohio High School Athletic 3
Association State Championship; and 4
WHEREAS, A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the 5
Upper Arlington High School ice hockey team have combined talent and 6
spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish 7
themselves as truly exceptional competitors. With admirable 8
dedication, the Golden Bears have worked diligently toward attaining 9
ultimate proficiency in hockey, and as a result, they defeated a tough 10
St. Ignatius team by the score of 5-2 to win this year’s State 11
Championship, the first such crown in program history, and finished 12
the season with an impressive 29-6-2 record; and 13
WHEREAS, The Golden Bears’ achievements and leadership are a 14
justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the 15
players, their families, their school, their community, and their 16
coach, Craig Hagkull. In leading his team to victory, Coach Hagkull 17
has not only helped the athletes to develop their talents to the 18
fullest but also instilled in them a valuable sense of determination, 19
perseverance, and camaraderie; and 20
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 21
in the total education of our young people, we are overjoyed to pay 22
tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coach for a 23
job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have 24
gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in 25
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it 26

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General 27
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Upper 28
Arlington High School ice hockey team on its tremendous season and 29
salute the members and coach as some of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be 30
it further 31
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 32
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Upper Arlington High 33
School ice hockey team. 34
