Honoring the Westerville North High School boys basketball team as the 2025 Division II State Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Westerville North High School 2
boys basketball team on winning the 2025 Division II State 3
Championship; and 4
WHEREAS, A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the 5
Westerville North High School boys basketball team have combined 6
talent and spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to 7
establish themselves as truly exceptional competitors. With admirable 8
dedication, the Warriors worked diligently toward attaining ultimate 9
proficiency in basketball, and as a result, they defeated a tough 10
Perry team by the score of 78-46 to win this year’s Division II State 11
Championship, their first such title since 1994, and finished the 12
season with an impressive 25-2 overall record; and 13
WHEREAS, The Warriors’ achievements and leadership are a 14
justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the 15
players, their families, their school, their community, and their 16
coach, Shan Trusley. In leading the team to victory, Coach Trusley has 17
not only helped the athletes to develop their talents to the fullest 18
but also instilled in them a valuable sense of determination, 19
perseverance, and camaraderie; and 20
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 21
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased 22
to pay tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coach 23
for a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have 24

gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in 25
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it 26
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General 27
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Westerville 28
North High School boys basketball team on its tremendous 2024-2025 29
season and salute the members and coach as some of Ohio’s finest 30
citizens; and be it further 31
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 32
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Westerville North High 33
School boys basketball team. 34
