A R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring Maddox Laymon as a 2025 Division II State Wrestling Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to commend Maddox Laymon on winning the 2025 2
Division II State Championship in boys wrestling in the 120-pound 3
weight class; and 4
WHEREAS, A diligent and capable individual, Maddox Laymon is 5
deserving of recognition for his exemplary accomplishments as a 6
standout member of the Sheridan High School boys wrestling team. An 7
exceptional athlete, he defeated a reigning state champion from Bexley 8
with a pin in the third period to win first place in the 120-pound 9
weight class at this year’s Division II State Tournament, becoming the 10
first freshman in Muskingum Valley League history not only to go to 11
the state championship but also to win it, and his noteworthy record 12
of personal achievement stands as a testament to his dedication; and 13
WHEREAS, Through his participation in wrestling, Maddox Laymon has 14
learned the important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, 15
and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to 16
him throughout his life. Indeed, he has inspired countless people to 17
excel in various areas of endeavor, and his outstanding efforts serve 18
as an example worthy of emulation; and 19
WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of 20
our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards 21
of individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable 22
educational tool. With sports contributing to the development of 23
countless youth, we are happy to congratulate such a fine wrestler as 24
Maddox Laymon; therefore be it 25

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General 26
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Maddox Laymon 27
on his Division II State Wrestling Championship and extend best wishes 28
