AB 1172: Adult day programs: administration of intranasal emergency antiseizure medications.

The bill allows licensed facilities to train and authorize non-medical staff to administer intranasal emergency antiseizure medications to clients with seizure disorders or epilepsy. Clients must have a seizure action plan that includes a signed authorization for non-medical professionals to respond to seizures with emergency medication. Facilities must maintain the client's seizure action plan and provide notice to staff about their right to rescind their volunteer offers and liability protections. Authorized staff are protected from professional review, civil liability, or criminal prosecution if they act in good faith without compensation. The bill establishes minimum standards for training and sets a deadline for the state department of social services to develop these standards by January 1, 2028.
