AB 1193: Fleeing the scene of an accident.

This bill amends the existing law regarding crimes, specifically the penalties for fleeing the scene of an accident that results in injury or death. Currently, if a vehicle accident causes permanent or serious injury or death, the person who flees the scene is subject to imprisonment and/or a fine. The existing law also sets a 6-year statute of limitation for filing a criminal complaint in such cases. This bill would remove the 6-year limitation, allowing a criminal complaint to be filed at any time.
