AB 1223: Local Transportation Authority and Improvement Act: Sacramento Transportation Authority.

The local transportation authority and improvement act would allow a county board of supervisors to create a local transportation authority, which may impose a transactions and use tax for transportation purposes subject to voter approval. This tax would be used to support infill or transit-oriented development in areas nominated by local governments, as well as to advance state greenhouse gas emissions reduction objectives. The local transportation authority would also be authorized to impose a transactions and use tax in a geographic area within the county, subject to voter approval and other requirements.
