AB 1244: California Environmental Quality Act: transportation impact mitigation: Transit-Oriented Development Implementation Program.
This bill aims to improve the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) by allowing projects to mitigate transportation impacts by contributing to the Transit-Oriented Development Implementation Fund. The fund is used to support the development of housing projects near transit stations. The bill requires the Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation to set a price per vehicle mile traveled, which will be updated every three years. The contributions will be available to fund projects in the same region, with preference given to certain projects. The Department of Housing and Community Development will post information on its website about the projects and the estimated reduction in vehicle miles traveled.
