AB 1311: California Rangeland, Grazing Land, and Grassland Protection Program.

The bill aims to protect California's rangeland, grazing land, and grasslands by acquiring conservation easements on privately owned land that supports food and fiber production, wildfire fuel reduction, groundwater recharge, wildlife habitat, and open vistas. The bill appropriates $400 million from a statewide bond fund to award grants to eligible entities for conservation easement acquisition. Grant recipients must expend the funds to acquire a conservation easement and record it within six years. The bill also allows the Wildlife Conservation Board to partner with certified land trusts and receive funding from them.
