AB 1387: Behavioral health multidisciplinary personnel team.
The bill aims to establish a behavioral health multidisciplinary personnel team to facilitate the identification, assessment, and linkage of justice-involved individuals with mental illnesses to supportive services. This team will work to expedite the connection of these individuals to housing and services while incarcerated and upon release from county jail. The team will allow provider agencies and personnel to share confidential information to ensure continuity of care, with specific protocols governing the sharing of this information. A qualified person can be designated for a particular case, and team members who receive sensitive information must adhere to the same privacy and confidentiality obligations as those disclosing it.
