The bill aims to amend the Elections Code to protect the confidential information of elected officials and candidates. The residence address, telephone number, and email address of a registered voter is confidential, except under certain circumstances. This bill would exempt the residence address, telephone number, and email address of a federal, state, or local elected official or candidate from disclosure, except for journalistic or governmental purposes. County elections officials would be required to create a list of elected officials and candidates and make their information confidential within 5 business days.
