AB 2571: Reimbursement for pharmacist services.
This bill aims to amend existing laws related to pharmacist services in the Medi-Cal program. The Medi-Cal program provides health care services to low-income individuals and is funded by federal Medicaid program provisions. The bill would require the state to reimburse for pharmacist services at the same rate as physician services, including medication therapy management (MTM) services. Currently, pharmacist services are reimbursed at 85% of the fee schedule for physician services, except for MTM services. The bill would require the state to implement an MTM reimbursement methodology to ensure payments are made only to eligible advanced practice pharmacists or pharmacies for MTM services.
