AB 1441: County of Merced Citizens Redistricting Commission.
This bill establishes a citizens redistricting commission in the county of merced to adjust the supervisorial district boundaries. The commission will consist of 11 members who meet specified qualifications and will follow the procedures for adjusting district boundaries. The commission's goal is to make the districts as nearly equal in population as possible and comply with applicable federal law. The bill also makes legislative findings and declarations about the necessity of a special statute for the county. If the commission determines that the bill contains mandated costs, reimbursement will be made according to state mandate reimbursement procedures.
