AB 1486: Climate resiliency: research farms: grant program.
The bill aims to improve climate resilience and sustainability of agricultural lands by providing grants to public postsecondary educational institutions. The state department of education, in collaboration with the department of food and agriculture, will distribute funds to develop research farms that focus on improving climate resiliency. The research farms will be established by the University of California and the California State University, which will designate these institutions as agricultural experiment stations and research institutes. This initiative will help create a network of research farms to develop innovative solutions for climate-smart agriculture.
