AB 395: Holidays.

This bill aims to add new holidays to the existing California holiday list, making the first day of class and high school graduation dates avoidable if they coincide with religious, cultural, or ancestral holidays that would prevent public participation. The governing boards of school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools must consider input from the affected community and seek input from student and faculty organizations when developing academic calendars. Institutions of higher education, including community colleges and the California State University, must also make every reasonable effort to avoid calendaring events on dates that would prevent public participation due to these holidays.
