AB 1613: Vehicles: off-highway motor vehicle safety.
The bill aims to establish a California off-highway motor vehicle safety and stewardship program. The program will require a mandatory course for individuals 16 years of age or older who operate off-highway motor vehicles. The course will cover principles of safe operation and the use of safety gear, and will be developed in conjunction with the department of parks and recreation. The course will be developed and implemented by the division of off-highway motor vehicle recreation by June 1, 2029, and will include topics such as environmental preservation and emergency procedures. The program will also issue operator cards to individuals who complete the course, which will be valid for five years and require renewal.
