AB 17: Elections: precinct maps.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 7, 2025

What AB 17 does, verified December 7, 2025

The bill requires the registrar of voters in each county to make available a digital map of the effective boundaries of each precinct upon request by the public, free of charge. This map must be provided in digital form. The bill also requires that changes to precinct boundaries made less than 125 days before an election are not effective for that election. The bill creates a new state-mandated local program by imposing new duties on local officials with respect to elections. If the commission determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, reimbursement for those costs must be made according to state law.
