AB 1786: Public contracts: best value construction contracting for counties, cities, and the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments.

This bill would allow counties, cities, and the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments to select a bidder based on best value for construction projects exceeding $500,000. The bill would extend the operation of the best value construction contracting method until January 1, 2040, and expand it to cities and the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments. The bill would require governing bodies to submit reports to the legislature and joint budget committee before March 1, 2031, instead of 2031. The bill would also expand the crime of perjury to include the state-mandated local program. No reimbursement is required for costs associated with this bill.
