What AB 1788 does, verified May 30, 2026

This bill amends the Government Code to expand the disclosure requirements for nonprofit organizations that make travel expenditures for elected officials. It requires these organizations to disclose the names of donors who contributed at least $1,000 and accompanied the official on their travel, as well as each payment for travel made by the official. The bill also mandates that these organizations maintain detailed records and bills for at least 5 years. This expanded disclosure requirement is intended to further the purposes of the Political Reform Act of 1974.
