What AB 1932 does, verified September 4, 2026

The bill extends the Community Response Initiative to Strengthen Emergency Systems (C.R.I.S.E.S.) grant pilot program until June 30, 2032. It requires the Department of Social Services to administer and fund grants annually if appropriate funding is available in the budget act. Grants will be awarded to community-based organizations after consultation with stakeholders. The bill mandates quarterly meetings for a stakeholder workgroup to evaluate and adjust grant criteria as needed. Additionally, it requires timely filling of vacancies on the stakeholder workgroup within 90 days. These provisions become inoperative on June 30, 2032, and are repealed as of January 1, 2033.
