What AB 2085 does, verified August 17, 2026

The bill aims to amend the weights and measures code to prohibit the improper placement of weighing and measuring devices used for commercial purposes. A person cannot locate or position these devices so that their indications cannot be accurately read by the customer and operator under ordinary circumstances. This is a misdemeanor offense. The bill does not require reimbursement for a specified reason.
