AB 2098: Workers’ compensation: medical treatment.
an employee is required to make a reasonable effort to schedule medical treatment outside of work hours when possible. if treatment occurs during work hours, the employee must provide notice to the employer. the employer must provide leave during work hours unless it's necessary for business reasons. the leave taken by the employee runs concurrently with federal and state family leave laws. if the employer denies a request for leave, it's considered a misdemeanor if they know or should know it's not necessary for business reasons. the employer cannot discharge, threaten to discharge, or discriminate against the employee for requesting or taking leave.
