This bill would amend the law related to parole in California. The existing law requires the parole board to schedule a new hearing 3, 5, 7, 10, or 15 years after the last hearing, unless they decide to advance it to an earlier date based on a change in circumstances or new information. The law also allows inmates to request an earlier hearing date. This bill would remove the parole board's authority to advance a hearing to an earlier date and the corresponding provision allowing inmates to make such a request.
