What AB 2267 does, verified June 8, 2026

This bill aims to improve suicide prevention on California's state bridges and overpasses. The state department of transportation will develop and maintain preapproved suicide prevention safety-barrier designs that local governments can use to install. These designs will be incorporated into guidance documents by the department, in consultation with the state department of public health and local governments. The goal is to reduce suicides on state bridges and overpasses, with the requirement for the new designs to be developed by July 1, 2029.
