AB 2270: Low-income housing tax credit: farmworker housing.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified August 25, 2026

What AB 2270 does, verified August 25, 2026

This bill aims to expand the low-income housing tax credit program to include farmworker housing projects. It requires the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (CTCAC) to amend its regulatory scoring system to treat these projects as large family projects, giving them the same consideration as rural set-aside projects. The CTCAC will assign points to these projects based on the proximity of amenities, just like for rural set-aside projects. This change will increase the availability of tax credits for farmworker housing projects. The bill will also result in a higher tax liability for taxpayers, requiring a two-thirds majority for passage. The changes will take effect immediately as a tax levy.
