AB 2331: Cemeteries: removal of remains.
The proposed law aims to modify the regulations surrounding the removal of remains from a cemetery. Currently, a permit is required from the local registrar to remove remains, and the cemetery authority must be notified. The removal of remains can only be done with the consent of the cemetery authority and specific family members, in a specific order. If the required consent cannot be obtained, permission from the superior court is sufficient. The proposed law would require a court to grant permission to remove remains upon a showing of good cause, providing more flexibility in these situations.
